M25 Junctions 18-21a Update on motorway widening work at Bricket Wood

Post date: Mar 14, 2011 9:14:30 PM

Dear Resident,

This letter is to bring you up to date with progress at the construction site.

Changes to the bund design

On behalf of the Bricket Wood community, St Stephen Parish Council approached the landowner last August to seek a revision to the design of the environmental bund in the Donkey Field. The Parish Council’s approach to the landowner sought a change in its shape, to develop a higher bank for a longer distance alongside the motorway.

Briefly, the landowner has agreed to the Parish Council’s request, and Skanska Balfour Beatty is building a revised design to reflect the Council’s wishes. Please see a plan of the revised design overleaf (see attachment). The design includes measures to manage surface water run—off in the bund area.

Import of fill material to the site is now largely complete, and the shape of the new bund landform is well under way. Hertfordshire County Council regularly reviews the work to ensure that the landscape will be sympathetic with the area. These reviews will continue until the bund construction is complete. Very soon, we will start redistributing the subsoil and topsoil, which is presently stored on the site, over the reshaped landform. We expect to complete the work by the end of June this year.

We will continue to inform neighbouring residents of any work which may need to take place outside the normal bund working hours.

Please remember -

Please DO NOT enter

Please DO NOT take your dogs into the field at any time

Yours sincerely
