Land at Lye Lane (M25/A405/Lye Lane) - Outline Planning Permission (access, appearance, landscaping, layout/scale) for Care Village. 

Includes 150 Young Adult Extra Care Apartments, 11 Flats for Adults with Learning Difficulties, 60 two bed Dwellings, 12 one bed Dwellings, 26 two bed Key Worker Dwellings, 44 Extra Care Apartments, 70 bed Care Home, remediation of contaminated land, access road, 243 parking spaces, pedestrian access, landscaping, Leisure/Support Facilities including pre-school nursery, family support unit, medical centre, swimming pool, fitness centre, convenience store, bar/social club, allotments, bowling green and tennis courts.

(Note this is an outline planning application so anything can be changed). 

• • The proposal is inappropriate development that would harm the openness of Green Belt land and the applicant needs to demonstrate very special circumstances to justify building on it. A key purpose of Green Belt policy is to prevent merging of urban areas such as Watford and St Albans.

  • It is a significant concern that if planning permission is granted a precedent may also be set to build on other Green Belt sites around Bricket Wood, particularly where waste materials have been deposited.

  • Do you think that building on the open land between Bricket Wood and Chiswell Green/St Albans will forever change the surroundings and distinctive character of Bricket Wood?
