Bus Pass Renewal Countdown to 31 March 2013

Post date: Feb 15, 2013 8:53:04 PM

About 50 per cent of bus pass holders in Hertfordshire have already applied to renew their passes before they expire at the end of March.

Other residents are now being urged to renew their passes as soon as possible to make sure they don’t miss out on free bus travel.

Hertfordshire County Council has received more than 67,000 renewal applications, which represents around 50 per cent of the total number of projected Hertfordshire residents who currently hold passes due for renewal.

Councillor Stuart Pile, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “The bus pass scheme helps many older people in Hertfordshire to remain independent. With so many bus passes due to expire in March it really is important people renew at the earliest opportunity so they continue to benefit from free bus travel after March 2013.”

The quickest and easiest way to renew a bus pass is online by visiting www.hertsdirect.org/buspass. All Hertfordshire libraries have internet access and library staff can show people what they need to do. Alternatively they can complete and return the renewal application sent with their reminder or collect a form at their local library, district/council office, tourist information centre or one stop shop.
