Burston Retirement Community Planning Application (2nd): deadline 14 May 2021
The Bricket Wood Resident's Association and the St Stephen Neighbourhood Plan supports this important planning application at the back of Burston’s Garden Centre for 129 retirement and assisted living bungalows for older local residents to stay in our village area when they need greater support. The development is planned with community facilities in a well- landscaped and planted setting, with improved and controlled access from the A405 at Chiswell Greeen. The setting is now redesigned without the large original nursing home to reduce significantly any visual impact on Burston Manor, to minimise use of the Green Belt, and to address the few concerns raised at the earlier Planning Inquiry.
The Resident's Association supports this application because it provides the homes and help that residents tell us they want in later life to enable them to stay close to friends and family in our local villages. Now is the time for SADC to hear from YOU – our Bricket Wood residents: Planning Officers are expected to decide this month whether or not to give the go-ahead for this application.
The decision is on a knife edge, and local residents’ views are crucial.
