M25 Overnight Closures between Junctions 19 & 21a (REVISED): Saturday/Sunday 7 May 2011 & 14 May 2011

Post date: May 6, 2011 8:10:45 PM

Dear Sir/Madam,

M25 Widening Junction 16 to Junction 23

Planned overnight carriageway closures between junctions 19-21a

Gantry installations

The Highways Agency commenced the M25 widening scheme from junction 16 to junction 23 in May 2009.

As part of the widening works, we need to close the M25 carriageways overnight on Saturday night 7-8 May and 14-15 May 2011. These closures are required in order to install gantries spanning the carriageways between junctions 20 and 21.

Motorway lane closures have been considered as an alternative means. However, because of the split level carriageways in this section, equipment cannot be operated in such a way that traffic can pass during the installation process.

On 7 May, the anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed between 22:00hrs on Saturday and 07:00hrs on Sunday morning 8 May. On 14 May, the clockwise carriageway will be closed between 23:00hrs and 06:00hrs on Sunday 15 May 2011.

Lane closures will begin an hour beforehand on Saturday in order to get plant and machinery into position on the motorway. M25 traffic will be directed along the official signed diversion route using the A41 and A405 between junctions 19-21a.

We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause.

We will publicise these closures via the broadcast traffic news and updates, and advance warning signs on the wider motorway network.

We recognise that the closures affect both the travelling public and the local community. We are taking all possible steps to minimise disruption and

inconvenience to all parties. Should you have any questions regarding these plans, please contact our Community Relations team on 01727 744936, 07736 056825 and communityrelations16-23.m25@sbbjv.co.uk

Yours faithfully

Geoff Chatfield
